Response

This week, I am thrilled to respond to the True/False film I got the chance to view last Wednesday evening. "About A Son," the documentary on Kurt Cobain was one of the most intriguing docs I have seen in a long time! I loved the visual and sound treatment and the way it was never visually what anyone had expected. I had initially expected various interviews with Kurt Cobain and the screen would just portray him sitting in a chair talking and smoking a cig. But there were no images of Kurt (until the end) and it was a nice breath of fresh air.
The film started with Kurt saying he didn't care what people wanted to know about him, it wasn't interesting to him and that it's no one's business. The editing of the film was superb, and throughout we got to listen to Kurt as he opens up to the interviewer about his life and his career.
The best part was when he started on about how much he hates journalists. I figured he didn't like them, but wow, such strong words! haha
It really made me want to find out what happened in that last year before he died that the documentary didn't cover. It ends with him happy and changing his life due to his daughter (he even says "I don't want to blow my head off with a shot gun anymore," a quote I thought rather chilling).
If you didn't get a chance, try to see it. I also thought it was interesting that the director was an MU grad, so now you should see it just to support Mizzou alums!!!
